FOP - The Voice of Law Enforcement Professionals
- IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Subject: 2008 National F.O.P. Membership ID, Cards Dear Lodge #4 Active and Retired Members: No one knows the dangers and difficulties faced by today's
Once again, I bring to your attention problems encountered with the 2008 National F.O.P. Membership Cards:
As you know, every year we conduct a membership mail-out which consists of your National F.O.P. Membership I.D. Card, and Courtesy Cards.
The Membership Card which you receive with your name printed on it, along with Lodge #4's designation, and a Member Number comes directly from the National F.O.P. Lodge.
Lodge #4 does not print these I.D. Cards.
Whether during the mail-out process or after, we are faced with misspellings, incomplete names (due to length) or wrong names of our members. In addition, due to the size of our membership and similar names, I.D. Cards have been misdirected to members or lost during the mail service delivery process. Throughout the year, many members also misplace, lose or have their Cards stolen.
In all cases, Lodge #4 has manually typed new I.D, Cards for our members.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NO LONGER THE CASE.
We were advised in 2007, by the National Fraternal Order of Police, Grand Lodge that they "Can no longer send out blank cards." The blank cards would have given us the ability to type you up a new Card and send it off to you. We - Lodge #4 - can no longer do this for you.
In the event you need a new National F.O.P. I.D. Membership Card, please call or email the National Lodge directly:
RUTH SPROUSE 1-800-451-2711
E-Mail Address: rsprouse@fop.net
The National Lodge also suggests that you register on their website, with a Username
and Password. However, you will need your National I.D. # to do this. If there are misspellings to your name or missing initials, you can make those changes directly to their site. All changes will need to be verified through the Local
Lodge Secretary then the New Jersey State F.O.P. Secretary, and then onto the National Lodge for approval, before any changes take effect.
Lodge #4 records all National F.O.P. I.D. Numbers in our computer database.
It is important to note that Lodge #4 pays Per Capita to both the State and National F.O.P. Lodges twice a year - in May and November. New Class members are not reported for at least a six month period - after their Graduation - due to rejection or resignations.
Please remember if you request a new I.D. card from National, the Card will be forwarded directly to Lodge #4. It will not come directly to you!
If there any corrections that need to be made to mailing label please forward changes to lodge secretary, Sgt. Pat McCarthy at the Chiefs office.
If you have any questions regarding this notice, please do not hesitate to contact me at (201) 424-8625.
Fraternally yours,
W. Greg Kierce,
President
